When to roll over your old 401(k)

Need help rolling over that old 401(k)? Rolling over that old 401(k) might seem daunting, but it doesn’t have to be that way. I’ve helped a client rollover an old 401(k) with thousands of dollars in it from John Hancock over to Schwab. Today, in less than 30 minutes, I helped a client rollover 3 investment accounts from Betterment to Schwab so that she can save tens of thousands of dollars in fees and grow her money more efficiently.

Here are 2 ways to know when you should rollover that old 401(k).

  1. Fees. You shouldn’t be paying any fees for your old retirement account to sit there. Doing so will drain the money in that account when it should be growing instead in a no fee investment account.
  2. You’re investing in overpriced funds that might not be growing. Every fund has a fee. I once helped a client who was 30 years old realize that her 401(k) wasn’t invested at all, but in cash, so it was actually LOSING value to inflation. There’s no reason to have a retirement account be in cash unless you are retired and using that cash to pay for your nights out at bingo. The younger you are, the more you have time on your side for your investments to grow. I help you pick the right investments and understand why you’re picking them. Tired of wasting hours of your life trying to figure this out on your own and getting no where? Work with me as your coach instead to get this done and retire sooner. Book a call here to get started on your growth instead of delaying it.
